Just for Laughs!

When I was a kid I loved the Andy Griffith show and especially Barney.  This scene still makes me laugh.  I'll confess I feel like this when trying to show someone how well I memorized a passage of Scripture.  Enjoy!



"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

LOL!! Hilarious. Barney was one of my all time heroes too. This reminds me that I recently have been partnering with a friend in Alabama to memorize Scripture. Since years ago I had hoards of passages memorized and found the value in it, I encouraged him (a 30 yr old) to team up with me (30+24 yrs) to hold each other accountable. Our first passage was a Ps 148. Within a week my friend had it all memorized while I was trying to finish the first 4 verses. He went on and memorized Ps 149 and 150, then Ps 139, 37, then Rom 8, then Eph 1-2 and I'm still working on verse 5 of Ps 148! I feel you, Barney!! Thankfully, my friend has been immensely blessed by his "good" memory and I am left to glory in my early years '-/

Paul,

For as long as I've known you you have always been an strong advocate of memorizing Scripture. I've always envied that. I've never been faithful with it. I would memorize a passage and then move on to another. By the time I memorized the next passage I would have forgotten 50% of the first passage. I tried all the different measures to keep it fresh but it always faded with time. In a month's time I was completely like Barney!
